Merced Family Practice Residency

Dear Applicant:

Welcome to our Family Medicine Residency Program! Residents, faculty, and staff are all looking forward to meeting with you. Included are directions to our Family Care Clinic where we will meet at 7:15 a.m., and then on to the cafeteria for breakfast!

Your day will begin with Morning Report, followed by a tour of Mercy Medical Center, Merced, the hospital in which residents work. This tour will be conducted by one of the residents. After your tour of the hospital, you will be taken on hospital rounds as part of your morning. After rounds, you will be taken over to the Residency Office for Part I of your formal interview. You will meet with either a faculty member or a resident. After Part I of your interview, you will meet with Dr. Araujo, our Program Director. At noon a resident will take you over for lunch and then to Noon Conference. After the noon conference, you will be taken back to the Residency Office for Part II of your interview. You will then meet with a faculty member or resident for the final part of your interview. Your day should finish about 3:00 p.m.

You will find that throughout the day there will be many opportunities to visit with residents and faculty on an informal basis. We do, however, welcome and encourage you to stay and continue your visit, time permitting.

If you would like to stay with a resident the night before (or after) your interview, please call our residency office at the number below. Our residents always look for a reason to go out to dinner, so don't hesitate to call!

Should any questions remain, please do not hesitate to contact our Residency Office (209) 385-7172 Ka Thor or Aletha Smith will assist you.
