Community/Ambulatory Medicine (8 Weeks)
Community Medicine is a four-week rotation for first-year residents and 6 weeks for second-year and 8 weeks for third-year residents. Experiences include outpatient and skilled nursing facility, geriatrics, home visits, nutrition, family dynamics, preventative medicine, and practice management. Additionally, four full days are focused on practice management in a variety of different practice models chosen by the resident involved. A flexible community project is tailored by each resident to meet his or her needs. Patient education, dermatology and neurology outpatient training and psychiatric consultation is woven into Community Medicine rotations. In addition, certain Community Medicine weeks focus on colposcopy and other office procedures.
