Emergency Room (4 Weeks)
Residents rotate in our busy Level 2 trauma center Emergency Department during their second year. They are expected to complete seven 12-hour shifts during a fourteen-day period, but are given freedom to arrange their shifts according to desire. Usually these shifts occur during the PM hours due to the volume of learning opportunities. Here, residents develop experience in suturing, fracture management, trauma care, acute illness triage and disposition, as well as emergency procedures and line placement. All residents are ACLS certified, and can participate in ATLS training and PALS certification while in residency.
