Jennifer Edwards, M.D. - Full-time Faculty and Director of Family Medicine Obstetrics

Jennifer Esquiro Edwards M.D. joined the faculty in July 2007. She is originally from Sitka, AK and belongs to the Tlingit/Tsimpshean tribes. She obtained her B.A. degree in Human Biology from Stanford University and her M.D. degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, WA. After graduating from the Mercy Redding Family Practice Residency Program in l999, she returned to Alaska to work at the Alaska Native Medical Center. For eight years, she practiced full-spectrum Family Practice, including obstetrics, and served as a village physician for several rural native villages. This position allowed her to travel to remote villages throughout the year to provide medical care to patients and training for local health care providers. Dr. Edwards has relocated back to Redding with her husband, also a graduate of the Redding residency program, and two young children. She enjoys hiking, rock climbing, stained glass work, SCUBA diving, international travel and is dedicated to the recruitment and retention of minority people into higher education and health careers.
