Janet M. Walker, M.D., Department Chair Family Practice Flight Commander Dr. Walker graduated from Ohio State University in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry, worked at Stanford Research Institute for two years, and then graduated from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO in 1982. She received an Air Force Health Professions Scholarship for three of the four years of medical school. Dr. Walker completed a residency in Family Practice at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston in 1985, having served as chief resident during her third year. She has served as an active duty Air Force physician since 1985, in roles of staff physician, Family Practice residency faculty member, Chief of Ambulatory Care, Chief of the Medical Staff, and Deputy Group Commander in locations including Sheppard and Carswell AFB in Texas, as well as Ramstein Air Base, Germany, Grand Forks AFB, ND and two tours at Travis AFB, CA. Dr. Walker has spent six years as a Family Practice faculty member, and completed a faculty development fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco in 1999. She has been an active member of the Uniformed Services chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians, serving as a lecturer, committee chair and member of the board of directors. She enjoys the horseback riding sport of dressage on her German Warmblood horse during off-duty time. |
